MY APPROACH TO INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
As the basis for individual therapy, I use an integrative approach founded on the elements of Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. In brief, Solution-Focused Therapy can be explained as a future-focused, goal-directed, and strength-based approach that helps clients examine possible solutions rather than extensively focus on their problems.
Similarly, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy also highlights strengths by promoting resiliency and psychological flexibility. It encourages mindfulness, self-acceptance, and commitment to chosen personal values. Emotionally Focused Therapy adds value by exploring attachment wounds and offering healing corrective experiences.
To ensure a personalized approach to each client’s care, I do not ascribe strictly to either theoretical orientation. Instead, I combine certain elements from these and other evidence-based approaches to best serve each client’s unique needs.
