  • Call SAMHSA National Helpline (800)-662-4357.  

  • If you have issues with your alcohol use, find a support group through Alcoholics Anonymous.

  • If someone close to you is struggling with alcohol-related issues, you can get support through Al-Anon. They offer "help and hope for families and friends of alcoholics".

ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS, MARRIAGE ISSUES

If you are experiencing challenges in your relationship or marriage, please consider the following resources for support:

  • Practice utilizing the basic effective communication skills, such as the ones outlined in this article from Marriage.com.

  • Explore useful tips from the Gottman Institute and its "research-based approach to relationships".

  • Read Dr. Sue Johnson's book titled Hold Me Tight, which "offers a revolutionary way to see and shape your relationships".

PARENTING, DISCIPLINE, FAMILY ISSUES

If you are facing difficulties in parenting and family matters, please consider the following resources:

  • Explore alternative ways to approach discipline and parent-child relationships with the principles of collaboration through the Lives in the Balance organization.

  • Check out this handy and practical summary sheet outlining the fundamental concepts from The Power of Showing Up, a book authored by Dr. Daniel J. Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson. This book serves as a valuable guide for creating secure attachments with children. 

  • Read some of the articles on the Visible Child website, an organization that is "deeply committed to a lens of respect and empathy for children, grounded in knowledge of child development".​
