ABOUT

Headshot of Regina Bernius, trauma-informed couples therapist in CA

Hello, my name is Regina. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #144460), supervised by Amancay Ledezma (LCSW #109491). I am currently welcoming new clients for in-person therapy at the beautiful office of Free at Heart Therapy in Fullerton, Orange County, and offering online counseling throughout California.

With a narrow focus on supporting relationships, I specialize in therapy for couples and families. I can assist with resolving marriage conflicts, improving communication, and repairing relationship dynamics. Utilizing my extensive training in evidence-based couples therapy approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Relational Life Therapy, we will work together to identify unproductive patterns and shift negative interaction cycles.

Additionally, I integrate Accelerated Resolution Therapy, a trauma-focused approach, to support the relationship through each partner’s individual healing. This helps partners address and move past unresolved experiences that may be affecting, often outside of awareness, how they relate to one another. Trauma-focused work can promote greater personal balance, strengthen emotional regulation, and, in turn, positively impact the relationship as a whole. If you are seeking effective couples therapy and are ready to address personal wounds contributing to relationship stress, I am here to support you.
